Obama Prints

On November 3, the day before the US elections, the project Expectation was presented at a press conference in Barcelona, Spain: a 2.5 acre (one hectare) sand painting of Barack Obama made with 650 tons of sand and gravel. Given its location and scale, the project is a reflection of the global impact of this election.

People from all walks of life came together to make Expectation a reality. We struggled against a tight production schedule, zero budget and four consecutive days of torrential rain. I found myself paying almost all of the production costs out of pocket. Fortunately, in spite of all the hardship, the inspiration behind Expectation struck a chord throughout the world, thanks to the amazing media coverage (CNN, Reuters, AP, etc).

In order to offer a piece of art history to collectors and the general public, I am producing two series of high-resolution gyclee prints of the Expectation project. The prints will be created using color matched archival inks on high quality, acid-free archival paper. The horizontal image measures 80cm x 65cm and the vertical image measures 80cm x 55cm. Each print - of which only 250 will be produced and sold directly for 250 euros plus shipping costs - will be numbered and signed and include a letter of authenticity.
